I have decided to train for a 10K race in June.
I am motivated by goals and competition. I am well ahead in my "Going Nowhere" goal and was starting to get a little bored with my walking/running routine. A friend encouraged me to train for a race; she is training for a marathon. Knowing I hadn't run but 2 miles straight - ever - I decided on the 10K goal.
I am really, really excited. I went out and bought some sports bras and running shorts tonight (any excuse to shop, you know!) and plan to shoe-shop in the next day or two. I joined a runner's forum today and even bought some protein bars! I officially start training on Sunday.
"Beat the Heat" 10K, here I come!
