Here are some photos from our anniversary trip to the mountains of southeastern PA...

We parked in a municipal lot overlooking the main part of the town of Jim Thorpe...that was part of the view.

The main streets in town had many buildings like these.

LOVE this street scene...it feels very European. We also later visited the vineyard that stocks the shop you see in the picture.

This little guy was guarding a historic Episcopal church.

We went on a scenic train ride through the Lehigh Gorge that afternoon...this is just one picture of the fall foliage.

A view from the train of the Lehigh River and Jim Thorpe in the distance.

When we were done in Jim Thorpe, we took an alternate route back to the hotel due to traffic (gotta love GPS!). We stumbled across an area called Flagstaff...the next three photos are of the view from there.

Valley on the other side of Jim Thorpe.

Looking down on Jim Thorpe (if you look close, you can see the train we took). The red roofed building was the home of Asa Packer (now a museum).

Jim Thorpe and the surrounding area.

It was a gorgeous area. Very laid back, which was exactly what we wanted for our weekend. I don't think I saw a chain restaurant within 20 miles. There's plenty to do for families too (white water rafting, mountain biking, and paint balling, just to name a few), but it was perfect for a romantic get-away with my sweetheart of 18 years.

As always, the time went by much too fast...
